I came across this poem and absolutely had to share it here. I WISH it was my own but alas it is not. I have not come to Derek Walcott’s level of Mindfulness yet. This poem addresses your own being with an invitation to love yourself. I am very close but not there. Soon Baby – Soon – I will reach the level I aspire to land – A • Dot 🙂
Love after Love
The time will come, when with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other’s welcome
and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you.
all your life, whom you have ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.
Dereck Walcott
Beautiful, I love it! I think we all need to work at loving ourselves =). We will be there one day soon!
Blessings sweetheart!

You are welcome Darlene – Giving back your heart to your heart is pure genius to me too. I have to see what else this man has written.
