An Islamic Call to Prayer
I mean no disrespect to any religion at any time. The ties an individual has belong only to them. What I don’t like is religion being used as a weapon. That is what I attempted to show with this alternative form of art. Original photograph is by my friend Sebastien Assoignons who has relocated to Argentina and is loving it!
I can’t help but feel that many people confuse their belief in God with the religion they were born into. I look forward to the day that religion and its hold give way to knowing that a belief in one God unites.
The prayer vigil for those who lost their lives in Conneticut on December 14th demonstrated this but I feel that as soon as it was over, everyone went their separate ways. I hope that some who watched left with the knowledge that there is power in numbers, power in the belief in God, and power in themselves to realise that the divisions need not be. Perhaps one day … Peace everyone.

I agree with you. It’s really bad when religion – or faith – is used as a weapon. I don’t like it when it’s used for political reasons, or to gain power, either. And I agree with merlinfraserm, too.

Careful…. As a Budding Guru I have my followers, people who have started to realise that my thoughts on Organised religion may have some merit and that the lies they have been fed come not from God but their fellow man and it has been going on for a very…very long time.

This very well written. I would add that the most beautiful religions, is that we practice every day, taking care of those around us. 🙂

Perhaps. We can only pray for universal peace.

We can hope as the world gets smaller and more people are exposed to facts that there is a chance for that peace that most want but don’t know how to achieve. Best to look for peace within your own heart. If everyone did then that Universal peace would follow.

Universal Peace is far too much to hope for… I’d settle for peace on Earth but as a realist I won’t be holding my breath.

Lesley, I didn’t actually invent reality I just try in my oafish way to get people to live in the real world and forget all this “one day God will make it all OK ” nonesense.
There are over 7 billion people on this planet that’s 7 billion inviduals with but one thought ‘ME First and screw the rest.’
As all round ‘Nice Guys’ we may not like it and for the most part try to ignore it in the hope that someone will eventually work it out for us and make all the bad stuff go away. Dream on or if it is your desire Pray On regardless it isn’t going to happen until WE the down trodden silent majority get off our dead asses and say we have had enough !
Here endeth the Reality Check.

I too believe faith is more important than “organized religion” where you are told what to believe and God forbid if you don’t. My whole thought is this: God loves me I love Him, I believe His word I stand on faith, mercy love and grace. No where on my body is there a birthmark or tattoo that says “JUDGE” therefore I can only accept people as fellow human beings regardless of their beliefs, sexuality etc. It is the Lords job to judge not mine. I love people I don’t care what you do or believe as long as you harm no other and accept me as I am. Love and hugs Les sorry for the soap box (((xx)))

Hallelujah! I have been so upset I just needed to share. I have found many people who do agree, and sincerely hope my sentiments are taken in a gentle way. Tear drops have been in my way of late and that is very disturbing. It is as if another drop will put me to bed 😉

I think my views on organised religion are fairly well known, they are manmade and are all about control over the minds and bodies of the masses.
Of the major three the Christian leaders are losing their grip on power as more and more people wise up and challenge the lies of the past 2,000 years. All except part of the USA of course where they are going backwards.
Going backwards is something they have in common with the zealots within the Muslim religion who use fear and intimation to control the masses and they are winning.
Not sure about the Jewish faith not convinced they are going forwards or backwards more like going round and round in circles of loads of meaningless ritual and tradition but they seem happy enough.

You are a very outspoken individual and I do know your views. I try to be more subtle :). Today I read a post about the Pope supporting Uganda re: homosexuality. It was already illegal but now it is backed by the Church. I can’t help but wonder how many homosexual Italians will honour this Pope. Who will they turn to if they are Roman Catholic with the disadvantage of having a birthright to their sexuality. The whole thing has blown my mind completely for a very long while.
I know that religion is so very important to some of my readers, and I hope they they will forgive my point of view but some of the ‘rules’ are just so so so far from today’s reality. I would like to think everyone will accept their differences and see through the BS.

There is a very great difference between Faith and Religion, and as I said organised religion has little to do with faith in a God and more to do with being told what to think and do by other people using the fear of God to bend people to their will.
As for Popes I doubt they are any different from other religious leaders, they have little choice but to go with the flow these days now that most ignore them or their rants.
