I bowed before the rain started
To cleanse and feel my wings again
The boss must have seen me hesitate
So chose to give me this instead
Now that I take position
It occurs to me somewhat
That this is where I’m supposed to be
To feel alive again
Wash my soul while you are there, I say beneath my breath
Wipe out the cobwebs, fleas and ticks,
From old and tired feathers
Then put back my own protection
Causing all to flow
Giving chances to my heart to heal within the coating
I am not praying anymore
My voice has not been heard before
Why would that change with the weather?
I just want to feel my wings again
To fly
To soar
To feel
Freedom from conformity and evil under others breath.

Free Write Friday hosted by Kellie Elmore (thanks Kellie)
It truly does present a challenge because of the instructions to free write and not edit, not even a spelling or punctuation error. It’s a great way to find your own way and test the courage in your soul. This one had to wait a day to get posted. I was very unsure of its meaning until this morning. Amazing what a new day can bring!!

That was really nicely written Lesley and I liked the imagery too – a vulnerability, bravery and courage all wrapped up so poetically!

Sometimes something great chooses to pour out through us and we allow it – and then we need a moment to catch up with ourselves.
I’m glad you eventually posted this! 🙂

Yes, I think so also. I just needed an adjustment period. Now when I re-read I wonder at my hesitation 😀

Yes that’s true 🙂
I specially love this ‘Wash my soul while you are there, I say beneath my breath’
and then
‘Then put back my own protection’
just magic in your words 🙂
Shows how good it IS to free write – sometimes we overanalyse, over edit…

Leslie, this is very emotional! Definitely can see some semblance in our thoughts on the image prompt. I am so glad your hesitation led to the decision to post instead of letting it lay dormant. Had not thought about the ping backs so I am going into my posting and add your link. Perhaps it will draw even more visitors to your site.

I am not sure what it was exactly Sharla that made me feel we were 2 birds on the same wire but then again some things just are without reason. Thanks for the ping-back. I am not sure how to do those deliberately 😀 😀

I referenced your site with its link as a related article. I think that automatically pings back to you letting you know it was linked on another’s website.

A time to be cleansed, to reflect, before soaring away. Beautiful words, giving a free feeling, Lesley. Well done!

Lesley,
This gorgeous text is a great example of what can happen when we just write- not planning to write, not rewriting the text into a kind of hollow correctness- just to write.
Thank you.

Hi Tom, Your comment is so appreciated. It is frightening to expose myself this way so when I receive feedback such as yours – I am deeply touched.
Free write reminds me of the risk I took when I transferred from figurative art to abstract. It actually gives me an adrenaline rush though at the same time.
I thank you
