If my blogger friends are anything like me (and I believe you are!) then this 30 second test will be well utilized. It is quick and easy, giving immediate results when completed.
Which side of your brain is your dominant side?
The Right = the artist
The Left = the analyst
These of course represent the brain function very simplistically and the brain is far far from simple. HERE is the LINK to the test.
The site is Http://Sommer-Sommer.com/braintest
Just to let everyone know my results – I am 91% Right Brained which means basically the remainder must be my logic 9%LesLogic!®™ :).
There has been a recent study at the University of Utah where 1000 brains were analysed – the conclusion being that the left / right theory is a pile of horse manure… You can read about it here if interested. http://www.livescience.com/39373-left-brain-right-brain-myth.html – In reading the results (quickly) it was found that everyone uses all parts of their brain. I wonder if they tested people like myself when they were painting or musicians while playing, writers while writing … endless lists of creatives who hone their skills from what we have come to refer to as the creative side of the brain.
PLEASE return and share your opinion of the test and results – let me know if you found them to be accurate! Thanks. I am off to begin an art project that I have been procrastinating on for at least 6 months now. Bonjournee.

Well, I seem to be the first dominant left-brained commenter – 60/40 left. Why was I hoping for a different result among you talented artistic folks? 😉

Interesting test. Thanks for the link.
Supposedly, I’m almost the same on each side. Kind of surprising, but I’ll take it!

So many have found they are balanced. I do think that artists need to be able to tap both sides as do business people need the ability to utilise art in many ways (perhaps not always blatantly for either). Balance can only be a good thing.

A fun test to do! I was 72 percent right brained, which I think could be very right. At the same time I know that I am very good at math and calculations – so I believe the pictures isn’t as easy as it seems. Thanks for sharing.

I took the test and it verified what I knew: over the edge right brained. Still, I wish that they would envelop a test for a whole-brained person, which I believe it one of the benefits of our technological world. It gives us the ability to swing back and forth or stay center. Great post.

Thanks Sally – I think a lot of readers here being creative as they are expected to go over the edge as you and I did but they didn`t. Whole brain is an IQ test and I sincerely doubt I have a high one (just sayin` – not worried) 😀

Just as I suspected I use both sides of my brain. I never tend to believe these test. Though I was pretty confident that I did use both sides of my brain because some years ago, when I a lot more of my brain function. I use to do exercises to use both sides of the brain. Reason was because I read that we only use 10% of our brain. It was something like that. I wanted to use more. 🙂 Yet they are still fun to do and see what the results are.

My thoughts also about the tests but you are speaking to someone who used to do every test imaginable even Cosmopolitan ones :). I know for a fact that my ability to read music and learn (recall) languages is minimal. I do have a guitar expressly for the purpose of that development but haven`t had the time to dive in yet. As mentioned – I am feeling quite unusual in my 91 percentile (insert squiggly face here) !

hey long lost amiga!
i’m in town taking an internet break while staying at a friend’s hostal (ten bucks/night!) and tomorrow am going to an archaeological site about an hour away…
anyway, i am so glad to see this post and to have a tiny amt of time for reading! i’m using the mini laptop and have slow internet, so there are several factors affecting my score (which said i was 50/50)
1. w/slow internet, the images were slow to load or did not load! it took several attempts to load some of them.
2. w/the small screen, the instructions ‘ran’ off of the right side of the screen, so i had to guess/hope that i was seeing all that was there!
3. my left leg was already propped over my right one, so of course i used that. i was using my right hand more on the typing, so i put the left over the right…
4. i am wearing one contact lens to see far away and am using the other eye for close reading, so of course i used my right eye to focus on something!
i suspect that i would join you in that higher percentage of right-brained strength if i were using a larger screen with faster speed!
thanks for sharing the test!!!

Any time! I found that being at the computer may have made an impact on my results as well. I think it is meant for a bit of fun as most people do seem to have the ability to use all parts of their brain. My comment that the testing must have been done outside of the one thousand peoples`realm of discipline still stands. 🙂

It says that you are balanced – I will take a stab that your photography satisfies a part of you whereas perhaps your education is more analytically based? Either way is all good!
